Two students ages 15 & 16 who expressed a keen interest in pursuing a career in medicine (pediatrics and obstetrics/gynecology) were selected from Bishop’s College and Hillsborough Secondary School in Carriacou to attend a 10 day Med Vet Summer program at St. George’s University in Grenada. The two students attended courses that combined didactic lectures, small-group problem solving sessions, practical lab work, and hands-on training through simulated and real-life situations in state-of-the art facilities. Afterwards the students volunteered at Carriacou Health Services to obtain further clinical experience. Although this was the 7th year the Med Vet Program was offered, these are the only 2 students to date from Carriacou who have been privileged to participate.
