Promoting literacy and reading are a focus of Friends Through Books, thus the idea of organizing a literacy and book campaign for specific schools in Grenada, Petite Martinique and Carriacou was born. With the guidance of Fr. Andrew Barnard in Morne Jaloux contact was made with Mrs. Jacqueline Phillip, headmistress at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic School in Morne Jaloux and Ms. Judy Belmar headmistress at St. Michael’s R.C School in Woburn to enhance the current selection of books in their schools and further promote reading in the schools. In March, 2012 Friends Through Books donated over 350 books.
